House Speaker Nancy Pelosi released a statement on Thursday, accusing AG. William Barr of trying to “cover up” for Trump in abandoning the prosecution against the then National Security Adviser Michael Flynn for charges of lying to the FBI about his dealings with the Russians.
“Attorney General Barr’s politicization of justice knows no bounds. Michael Flynn pleaded guilty to lying to federal investigators in the face of overwhelming evidence but now, Attorney General Barr’s Justice Department is dropping the case to continue to cover up for the President.
Overruling the Special Counsel is without precedent and without respect for the rule of law.” Pelosi said.
After the announcement, by DOJ, president Trump stated that his former aide had been “an innocent man” all the while. He however accused Obama administration officials of targeting Michael Flynn saying, “I hope that a big price is going to be paid.”
