[News]Odike Wants NPP’s ‘Stinking And Shameful’ Vote-Buying Primaries Investigated

Founder of the United Progressive Party (UPP), Mr. Akwasi Addai Odike wants the Police to quickly investigate the ‘shameful and stinking’ vote-buying elections that happened at the recently held New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) primaries in the country.

The governing New Patriotic Party [NPP] organised its nationwide primaries to elect Parliamentary Candidates to contest for Members of Parliament (MPs) during in the December 7 elections.

Widespread reports surfaced both social media and on Radio that some aspirants were bribing delegates to vote for them in the elections, an allegation the party’s leadership swiftly watered down, claiming there was no hard core evidence to back such publications.

However, a day after the polls some aspirants who lost the elections went round constituencies chasing delegates to collect back monies or gifts.

This practice, the business mogul cum politicians has described as “stinking and shameful” and called for the police to investigate with any delay.

Speaking on Kumasi-based Angle FM, Odike told host Kwame Tanko that “Police must investigate the corrupt practices that went on during the NPP primaries. Inducement; collect money and vote for me. As someone who wishes to be a Member of Parliament and want to be called Honourable, it is very shameful”,

Mr. Odike also supported Political science lecturer, Dr. Richard Amoako Baah’s thought that that the NPP didn’t go for elections rather “they went for auctions. The highest bidder; that is what they worked for”,

He concluded “Today when you look into how the NPP’s are wasting money in their internal politics, it is a clear indication that the party did not come to help Ghana. They work for individual interest.’’
